The recently revived Ladies of the Oracle (LOTO) is a vibrant, century-old women’s fraternal organization known for blending philanthropy with satirical pageantry. Originating as a playful and inclusive counterpart to AMOS (Ancient Mystic Order of Samaritans), the group has a culture of “mirth and clean fun” while providing women with a supportive, creative outlet.
LOTO held its annual meeting and initiation at the Three Links Camp in Mi-Wuk Village, which is nestled 4,800 feet in the Stanislaus National Forest, with a rustic tranquility. Days at the camp were packed with a variety of activities, including providing tarot and tea leaf readings to Odd Fellows, Encampment, Militant Patriarch and Rebekah members for $5 and hosting a tie-dye workshop. We raised $190 and donated all proceeds to Three Links Camp.
Part of the fun was staying as a group of 14 in the cozy dormitory cabin. There was a rock concert after dinner on Saturday night, followed by initiation, which took place in the cabin. Congratulations to the following new initiates:
- Amanda Bartlett
- Joan Brennan
- Teena Gill
- Pamela Johnson
- Mariko Kawaguchi
- Amanda Kruze
- Stacy Thomason
It was a deeply refreshing weekend with opportunities for building life-long fraternal bonds.
