Kumu Hula Meleana Manuel from Volcano, Hawai’i will return to the South Bay to lead hula workshops “Songs to Honor Our Royalty” on Wed., July 8 and perform at a music concert “A Summer Evening” on Fri., July 10, 2026! Please see the attached flyers for details. ALL hula skill levels are welcome!

Hula dancers
Bring water, a pen/pencil, folder or writing surface (optional), and wear comfortable clothes (hula skirt or sarong optional).
Join us, ‘ukulele/guitar players and ALL who want to learn the mana’o (thoughts or knowledge) of the songs!
Learn the meaning of the poetic Hawaiian lyrics by sitting in with the hula classes as Kumu Mele shares her cultural knowledge about the songs. You will receive lyric sheets. Bring a pen/pencil to take your own notes. You are welcome to follow Kumu’s lead & play your guitar or ‘ukulele during the hula instruction part of the classes. Note: Although these are not music instruction classes, some help with chords will be provided.

Doors open 6:30, Concert 7:00-8:30 p.m.
Hula workshop participants will have the opportunity to perform the dances learned at the hula workshops!
