On Tuesday, August 18th, Saratoga Lodge #428 once again hosted District 107’s 2nd degree ritual. That night the 2nd Degree Team, under the direction of Mason Wolf, welcomed Brother Neal Jervis and Sister Christine Jervis, both of Saratoga Lodge 428, and Brother Erik Woodbury of True Fellowship Lodge 52 into The Degree of Love.
The Dramatis Personae were Michael Bever as the Noble Grand, Paul Milleson as the Right Side Supporter, Mason Wolf as The Conductor, Jane Beckman as The Warden, Scott Spence as The Chaplain, Debra LaVergne as The Past Grand, Katy Dickinson as The Vice Grand, Randee Chin as The Inside Guardian, Carol Wahrer as The Right Scene Supporter, Kat Powell as The Left Scene Supporter, with Laura Tandeske as additional support, and Debbie Wolf handling the audio visual portion of the show.
Despite some slight hiccups, including an unintended pratfall, everyone present enjoyed the degree ritual.
I want to give a special shout out to Carol Wahrer and Laura Tandeske for stepping up to be Degree Team members at short notice, especially considering how long their drive from Livermore had to have been, and despite not having members of their own lodge taking the degree. That’s one of the wonderful things about being an Odd Fellow, how often and quickly people will step up to be of aid.
After the degree ritual, everyone enjoyed pizza in the incredibly inviting social area at Saratoga 428. As in the past, the Brothers and Sisters of Saratoga showed themselves to be gracious hosts.
Congratulations to Brother Erik, Sister Christine, and Brother Neal for completing another link in the chain of Odd Fellowship.
In Friendship, Love, and Truth,
Brother Scott Spence, True Fellowship 52
