Looking For Election Workers

A member of the registrar’s office reached out to us, asking to share the following informaiton with our members. Would you like to work the upcoming elections? See the flyer below, and read on for additional details if interested in applying. At least one of our district lodges, True Fellowship 52 in San Jose, is expected to serve as a voting center for the upcoming primary and general elections. It’s a good way we can show our devotion to the democratic process without aligning ourselves with a particular strain of partisan politics.

The County will be setting up 100+ Vote Centers (VC) throughout the county – some that will be open for 11 days and others that are open for 4 days, depending on what the county determines is required for that area. Apart from that each voting center will also have a set up day (typically a day prior to opening) and a tear down day (typically a day after Election Day).

Each of the VCs will be staffed with various personnel with specific skills.

VC Leads (Election Worker I)

Each VC will be manned by 2 Leads overseeing the entire process.

All staff – Aides and Stipend/ Volunteers will be reporting to the Leads

The leads will have to go through a mandatory training for 3 days continuous at the ROV office in San Jose.

Depending on which VC they are assigned, they will either work for 13 days or 6 days (including set up & tear down days)

Pay Rates for Leads range between $27.14 -$27.76/ hour – including training as well. Bilinguals earn an additional $10/ day

Working hours

  • Set up day: 8 am to 5 pm (or earlier if the VC is set up and equipment tested)
  • Early Voting days: 8 am to 6 pm (approx.) – the 6 pm time is an approximation depending on how busy the VC is & how long closing process takes or if there are voters in the VC
  • Election Day: 6 am to 11 pm – again 11 pm is an approximation depending on how busy the VC is
  • Tear down day – 8 am to whatever time the truck picks up the equipment (usually done by noon)
