The Jane Austen Dance

In February, the San Jose Odd Fellows of True Fellowship Lodge #52 hosted their first collaboration with the Bay Area English Regency Society. The event was so popular that they actually ran out of tickets, marking the first time in a very long time that they sold out a paid event. And the attendees had so much fun that many immediately began asking when they’d do it again.

The answer, it turns out, was “6 months later”. On August 10th, True Fellowship 52 presents the second Jane Austen dance, again co-sponsored with the fabulous folks at BAERS and the Divertimento Dance Orchestra. Once again, come and enjoy a community dance in the elegant and romantic spirit of Jane Austen. Feel your heart race as you step lively, expertly guided through turns and reels that will make you feel as though you’ve just been thrust onto the set of “Pride and Prejudice”.

Internationally-known dance leader Alan Winston is an Odd Fellow, and will lead the room through each dance pattern. No experience or partner necessary. It helps to know right from left, but if you can walk, you can dance.

Live music will be provided by the Divertimento Dance Orchestra. Doors open 6:30, and the dancing begins at 7:00pm.

Please bring shoes with smooth, non-marking soles. Period costume admired but not required. Formal or festive wear appreciated.

Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door.
