Cupertino #70 hosted an initiation ceremony Monday, August 31 where 4 candidates were surrounded by 22 oddfellows to welcome them into our lives as our chosen brothers and sisters.
While many of the cast returned to reprise roles in Monday’s degree, we were delightfully entertained by a new “Venerable Warden” (Mason Wolf), Noble Grand (Adam Ptolosky), and Chaplain (Carol Wahrer). Thanks to a great deal of tedious and detailed floorwork practice and editing, mostly by Randee Chen, Annie Cronin, and Jim Kabage, we had scripts made from the ritual with large print and color-coded instructions. Unfortunately, we did not have enough of them ready at the night of the degree itself, and so we read from the charge books. (They’ll be useful next time!)
Our three new brothers and one new sister are: Savador Ayala Jr of Mission Peak #114, Ricardo Zendejas of Livermore #219, and Kevin Dwyer and Gerri Schmutz, both of True Fellowship #52.
