As we prepare for the upcoming school year, Rebekah Children’s Services, the YMCA, Commonwealth Central Credit Union and other community partners are excited to invite you to support our Back-to-School Marketplace, a community event designed to help children and families start the year feeling confident, prepared, and supported. This unique marketplace will be hosted at Rebekah Children’s Services in Gilroy on Saturday, August 1, 2026. It will allow 100+ children to shop for themselves—choosing their own backpacks, school supplies, clothes, shoes, and accessories in a welcoming, dignified environment.
In addition to essential items, families will have access to community resource tables, free haircuts, and snacks, making this a one-stop event that removes barriers and builds confidence for the school year ahead.
We are currently seeking generous partners to help make this event possible through donations of:
- School supplies (backpacks, notebooks, pencils, crayons, etc.)
- Clothing, shoes, and accessories (new or very gently used)
- Financial contributions to help fill gaps and support event costs
- Food or snacks for participating families
- Volunteer time to assist with set-up, shopping support, or event flow
- Professional haircut services to help students feel their best
Every contribution—large or small—has a meaningful impact. Your support directly helps children walk into school feeling proud, prepared, and ready to learn, while also strengthening the sense of care and connection within our community. We would be honored to partner with you in this effort. If you are interested in donating or volunteering, we would be happy to share additional details or coordinate next steps at your convenience. I can also be reached at nkhiara@rcskids.org or 408.846.2140.
Thank you for considering supporting our students and families. Together, we can make this school yea a success.
