Obituary for Arthur Learn

Arthur Jay Learn, 92, of Cupertino passed peacefully on March 19, 2026, while in hospice care with his children and caregivers nearby.  He was a physicist with a doctorate from MIT earned in 1958 and had a long career in high-tech including working at NASA, Fairchild, Intel, and Anicon.  Arthur was born in Montana and, at age five, he and his family moved to Oregon. After earning his Ph.D., he moved to Southern California and began working with Space Technology Laboratories / TRW.  He met his future wife, Betty Peak, on a blind date in San Bernadino; they were married for 60 years before her death in 2019.  In 1970, they came to Silicon Valley to work at Fairchild, Intel, Supertex, and Anicon//Silicon Valley group.  Along the way, he generated more than 50 patents, both on his own and with others. Arthur was initiated into the Cupertino Lodge #70 on January 21, 2008.  He served as Noble Grand in 2010.  In 2024, he was voted as a Non-Contributing Member after years of dedicated service to the Cupertino Lodge.  Arthur is survived by daughter Karen Brandestsas and family; by son Scott and family; and a host of cherished nephews and nieces.A remembrance service will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, May 9th .  Please contact Randee Chin or Stephen Franke at finsec@cupertinooddfellows.org if you would like to attend.
