Mountain View Lodge #244 is very fortunate to be located on Castro Street in downtown Mountain View. We are on the corner between Castro Street and Villa Street and can put on window displays in our Castro Street windows. The smaller window is dedicated to Odd Fellows and Rebekkahs.
Our larger window has a changing monthly display. Displays are attractive, informative, entertaining, non-sectarian, multicultural and hopefully make passing foot traffic stop and look at them. We also hope that the displays allow passerby to look at our building and wonder who are the OddFellows? Maybe I should find out more about this organization?
The theme for February was Black History Month Black History Month is an annually observed commemorative month originating in the United States. It began as a way of remembering important people and events in the history of the African diaspora, initially lasting a week before becoming a month-long observation since 1970. It is celebrated in February in the United States .
The display was created using prints and quotes by famous African-Americans throughout history as well as posters describing significant events in the fight for Civil Rights.

The background colors of the display were black, red, yellow and green representing the Pan – African Flag. These colors were chosen for the Pan-African flag as many nations in Africa have these colors on their own flags.
